Rajan Mohanty-
Executive Director
Mr Rajan Mohanty is a development professional having more than 30 years of progressive experience in management of emergency humanitarian response and development programmes in India and abroad. He has mostly worked in leadership capacity with several International NGOs like
ActionAid, Plan International, CARE, CRS, Save the Children, Landesa and Terre des Hommes in India and Tulsi Chanrai Foundation in Nigeria.
He has substantial experience in using approaches such as project cycle management, poverty mapping, micro level planning, child-centred community development, total quality management and community-based disaster management. He has delivered large-scale sustainable programmes
in health, nutrition, education, livelihood, community organisation building, nutrition and land rights. Rajan has M.A.and M. Phil degrees in Anthropology.

Accounts Team
The Finance Team looks after the financial needs of all projects and their audit. It is responsible for preparation of financial guidelines, and ensures that financial systems are in place and functioning. Both internal and external financial needs are looked after by the team. The team is spread across regional and field offices to ensure effective implementation. It is also responsible for fulfilling statutory requirements.

REDD+ & BRG Programme Team
RCDC has been pursuing a bioresource governance programme in Rayagada, Koraput, Kalahandi and Gajapati districts of Odisha. The Bio-Resource Governance Team operates on four golden principles: ownership (of local bioresources); self-confidence (that these resources can aid socio-economic development); sustainable management; and social justice (sharing benefits). By strengthening governance systems, the team enables communities to avail the benefits entitled to them under different government schemes and programmes. It has established linkages with local GPs and various government agencies to create the right environment for realising the potential of communities to sustainably manage bio-resources and assert their rights.
Communication Team
As RCDC has grown in scope and size the need was felt for a dedicated team that would look after its branding needs. The Communication Team was created to fulfil this need. It is responsible for increasing the credibility and visibility of RCDC through a very extensive network among public, other NGOs, INGOs, perspective donors and the media. It has created the website and is responsible for its management and maintainence and is also using the internet based media and social networking platforms to spread the message of RCDC. It ensures that all employees of RCDC are trained in fulfilling its documentation needs so as to effectively cater to its various stakeholders. It is also responsible for the creation, maintainence of and training of employees in the Employee Portal of RCDC.
Admin & HR Team
The Admin & HR Team looks after the entire HR requirement of the organisation be it recruitment, preparation of job descriptions, assisting in the appraisal process, renewal of job contracts or termination of staff. It creates and maintains all databases pertaining to HR and provides attendance and leave information to the Finance Team for salary preparation. It is responsible for overall office administration, human resource and logistic support, at Head Office, Regional and Field Offices. It is also responsible for record keeping and coordinating procurement both for office and various projects. It provides orientation to new staff upon their joining.

Research & Publication Team
RCDC is well known at state, national and international levels for the quality of its various publications. The relentless effort of the Publication and Documentation Team is behind this success. The magazines Community Forestry, Jala Jivan Sambad, Jhardarab, Ama Jangal Amara, Jangal Khabar, Jibika Khabar, Sambhavana, are the various journals that the team manages by both inviting articles as well as by contributing inhouse. The other research based publications are popular because of their specialised content thanks to the research efforts of the team. The team also looks after the publication of RCDC based news in the print and electronic media.
Water Programme Team
The Water Team grew out of the need to provide access to safe water and sanitation facilities to many pockets of Odisha, a basic human right that still eludes them. Gradually the team evolved to ensure quality in drinking water by getting rid of fluoride and arsenic menace that has become endemic to many areas of the State mostly due to the falling water table. The Team has forayed into Climate Change and its effect on the availability and accessibility of drinking water. Its main emphasis has been on education, awareness and capacity building of stakeholders, particularly women and children, research and advocacy, and documentation.
Climate Justice Team
The Climate Justice Team is responsible for the multi-country initiative called Paribartan being implemented in two coastal districts of Odisha; Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur. Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction is the core area though overall development of the communities is being looked after through livelihood promotion and empowerment of the vulnerable sections. The learnings from this important programme are slowly being implemented in the other programmes of RCDC. Visitors to the project area profusely praise the valiant efforts of this team which is evident in both planning and implementation

IT Team
The IT department is responsible for managing the overall IT infrastructure of the organisation. It looks after both software and hardware troubleshooting at Head Office as well as Regional and Field Office levels. It is responsible for composing, proofing and designing the journals, booklets, other publications and IEC material of RCDC. It designs databases, administers and maintains them, and is responsible for data storage, security and administration. It creates, administers and maintains networks and web portals and looks after MIS needs of the organisation.

NTFP Programme Team
Non Timber Forest Produce (NTFP) is a major livelihood option for forest dwellers. The NTFP Programme Team is alive to this need and tackles the challenges faced in ensuring and balancing both sustainability and income. Thanks to the efforts of the team RCDC has become a leading organisation in Odisha on NTFP, with years of experience implementing NTFP-based programmes and promoting it as a development initiative from the grassroots to the international arena. The work of the team is spread accross Kalahandi, Nuapada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts of Odisha. The team educates the communities on sustainable NTFP collection and after enabling them to upgrade their products with value addition, ensures their marketing through community based institutions, eliminating the exploitative grip of middlemen in the process.
SFM Team
The oldest team in the history of RCDC, the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) Team encourages communities to use traditional skills to manage the forests and promotes silvicultural practices to maintain forest health. It focuses on lifestyles and livelihoods that reduce pressure on forests. It has been instrumental in promoting community based institutions to protect forests. Its major achievements in this field has drawn both international and national attention and the members act as resource persons in capacity building workshops and also at conferences on forestery that look at forests from various angles. Thanks to the efforts of this team the name of RCDC is todays synonymous with rights based forest reforms. The magazine of the Team “Community Forestry” has assumed global importance for the quality of its contents and caters to all stakeholders.

Nabarangpur Team
The Nabarangpur Team is vital to RCDC as it is responsible for the implementation of RCDC’s programmes in the district of Nabarangpur as well as nearby areas. Currently the team is engaged in activities like ensuring benefits of food and social security schemes to communities, ensuring the rightful implementation of flagship government schemes like MGNREGA and IAY, ensuring entitlements under the Forest Rights Acts, and in ensuring livelihood security to communities. The team also identifies special needs of the communities resulting from natural disasters and mitigates them through various project based work. Diversion based irrigation projects and an eco-system project is currently being implemented by the team.

Balangir Team
Working in the Balangir district of Odisha since 1993, this team has been instrumental in resolving issues of conflict in forest issues, forming alliances between communities, community based institutions and the government machinery. It has done yeomen service in documenting best practices. Gradually the institutions created and strengthened communities were channelled towards protecting other natural resources. Migration being a key issue in the region, the team focused on it and the resultant livelihood interventions saw sustainable organic agriculture being taken up. The team continues to work for the betterment of the community towards ensuring food security, sustainable agriculture and strengthening governance along with measures of forest conservation and protection.
